Phil Clock’s Vision
Fenwick Fishing Rods were brought into the modern day world by the effective leadership skills of Phil Clock. Mr. Clock’s distinctive high-energy personality, combined with a passion for all things fishy, led Fenwick in to being one of the new-worlds most admired and profitable freshwater fishing rod manufacturers.
Running right alongside great manufacturers such as Shakespeare and Zebco, Fenwick has set the bar high for superb quality, extremely well constructed, freshwater fishing rods. Mr. Clock knew by the time the 1970’s rolled around the positive effect graphite would have on the previously, fiberglass-only fishing rod industry. Fenwick became the first rod manufacturer to introduce an all-graphite fishing rod, with the name that is now world-famous, HMG.
The HMG model is graphite, otherwise known as the Akron HMT, and would prove to be the mainstay, and still holds that title as the preferred substance for creating fantastic and highly efficient and productive, freshwater fishing rods. Presently, there are not many freshwater fishing rods that would dare not have at least a percentage of the composite makeup of graphite.
